Not all academic theories can be practically applied but these four hallmark types of communication theory (post-positivism; hermeneutic; critical; normative) have a host of practical applications. Communication theory plays an underlying role in our lives via things like gossip, book clubs, social movements, sporadic gym attendance, and so much more. Communication theory plays an omnipresent role in the fabric of lives.
For these four reasons and an infinite number more, communications theory is a quintessential part of our lives. The more you understand about how communication theory works, the more you understand the applications of communication theory, and ultimately how to be a better communicator!
